Instead of that you should do the following
Go to the new posts and look for the guys with the high reputation let's say 50 and above , with the a quick scan for their post and find out a nice comment and comment on their post, this step should be done within the first three minutes from post life.
After that you have to options, and it depends on the situation and based on your experience; so after doing a comment you should vote for the post. As a result the author will vote your comment and by this you will get rewarded, what actually happened is that you sell your voting power to this guy and give him a comment, so in return he voted up your comment and give you back your reward so it's a mutual benefit process. The other option is to not vote specially if you are not following the author.
Item 2 The second thing that I want to talk about is your posts and how to market your posts and sell your ideas.
To be honest with you the best vote number that I got was 18 votes. Nevertheless I was monitoring the most trended posts. And see how they work since they are posted and through the process of voting until it reached to a trend page. Actually what happens is when the author finish his post and posted it through the network he already have a lot of followers so building your of your followers is something very important in this process. you need to work for some time ; also you need to improve some of your skills. As my limited experience in steemit you need to concentrate on the following:
1- increase your followers and support them by upvoting, and adding comment to let others see you.
2- Post at least 5posts a day ( i post only two).

4- Voting power should be high in order to get the best ; have a brake of time between your votes.
5-When you get some earnings immediately power up.
6- Always post good marital.
7- Repeat the above for some time and you will get some good results.
8- Make at least 10 good comments a day ( choose go articles so you might get upvoted on your comment.
9- Upvote every comment you post before the 7th day come( on the sis day)
10- Reputation is very important to increase; it will grow with your followers.
11- You might need a initial funding for example $100 and buy steam and power up(it will speed up the process).
