Imagine you buy a hat or shirt. The store includes free SBD/STEEM as a bonus. BUT WAIT! There's more...
Apparently steemitshop.com didn't accept SBD or STEEM when it was first created I was told. Now it does..
HOWEVER
If you're selling physical, tangible products, there is a cost-of-goods sold that needs to be funded. If you sell a shirt, send it by UPS, and accept SBD for that transaction, eventually that SBD has to be converted and sold to obtain U.S. Dollars to pay the UPS driver, the clothing wholesaler, the silkscreen printer or embroider, etc.
WHAT COULD BE A BETTER MODEL?
Accept fiat, pay your cost-of-goods, taking your profits, and as an added bonus give away some free SBD/STEEM
JUST WAIT! THERE'S MORE
- There isn't free SBD/STEEM (because it is bought and paid for)
- There is liquid SBD/STEEM on cryptoexchanges like Bittrex/Poloniex
Let's give some real world examples:
If you buy a living room set, they throw in a "Free Flat Screen TV"
- Was the TV free? No, the cost of it was embedded in the price
If you buy a shirt, they throw in "$5 FREE SBD" or "5 FREE STEEM"
- was the SBD/STEEM free? No, the cost of it was embedded in the price.
Now, this is not for you, as a customer, to know how it all works. All you should know is you bought a shirt and ended up with 5 FREE STEEM and you are happy.
This is for the merchant, who is invested in STEEM in some way, who wants to:
- Add a freebie "value added" bonus to existing merchandise
- Encourage more people to onboard onto the steem blockchain by giving them something they might not already have
- It is a way to get more STEEM purchased (raising demand) from central crypto exchanges
QUITE SIMPLY THE IDEA IS THIS:
SELL MERCHANDISE ONLINE? BUY SOME STEEM AND GIVE IT FREE TO THE CUSTOMER
BUY MERCHANDISE ONLINE? GET FREE STEEM AS A BONUS
(..and if you didn't fully understand why, or the reason, please back and s-l-o-w-l-y read this post again) :)
I'm on day 29/30 of my positivity challenge.
