More then 6 months ago Bithumb locked STEEM transfers on their exchange. I cant remember the exact reason why the transfers werent open soon after they dealt with the fallout of the hack the exchange suffered.
Few months ago i contacted their support service over facebook and asked for information as to when we might see them open transfers again.
The answer i got was basically:
It might happen soon or it might take years.
The problem was that STEEM on Bithumb for a majority of time traded at prices 10-15 times higher then those on other exchanges. Had they opened the transfers it would be a frenzy.
But can they really keep assets locked on an exchange indefinitely?
With this price surge during the last 2 days and the STEEM price on Bithumb moving in the other direction, we are currently the closest in price we have been in a long time..
Getting within 10%, as stated in the DM, might open up another exchange for us that could lead to a increase in overall daily volume, hopefully. Something that exchanges like Coinbase are always interested in.
Going from $0.35 to $1.04 is still a fair price difference but that looks much better then what we were seeing a few months ago.
Ill see you around and keep on Steeming!
