The first Maui Steemit Meet-up in Hana, Hawaii
Every weekend I make time to look for surf with my girlfriend Cristina and my long time friend Nick. Sometime we find great conditions looking for surf. Waves of all size can be fun despite the desire to ride the biggest monster. This summer we have been having growing discussions about steem and smeeit.com. It has become a focal point of many discussions as we are always looking for waves on Maui. This was the first time we sat down and decided to share our thoughts in a simple format. We kept it basic - introduce who we are, putting a face behind our profile, plus talk about what we have been thinking.
What we covered
After introducing ourselves and a bit on how we got introduced to steem we talked about why we think more people have not joined steemit in larger numbers and what are may be some of the barriers to people understanding cryptocurrencies. This is a topic that could be given more time as many of us have tried to get more friends and family involved.Next Nick spent some time talking about EOS, right before to went on the market. Since this meeting Nick has gotten his feet wet with EOS and even more enthusiastic about its possibilities going forward. It appears that making time for a discussion about new coins is also a topic that we can revisit in the future.
Finally, we talked a bit about bitpay visa card. This debit card allows users to load the card with bitcoins to make purchases where ever visa is accepted. Visa not accepted - no problem you can take out cash as well. Nick tells us how to make the gap between steem - to bitcoin - to loading the card.
Below is a video of what we did before and after our first meet up.
