How would you like to be in the top 1%, among the financial elite?
In the world at large, you’d be looking at some serious cash. According to this article at Investopedia, measured in assets rather than income, on a global scale it takes $700,000 in assets to be in the top 1% of households. To be in the top 1% in one of the world’s wealthier countries would take significantly more. In the USA for instance, you’d need $7 million in household assets to crack into the top 1%.
But what about Steemlandia?
As of a few minutes ago, there were 1,046,981 Steemit accounts. Sure, many are inactive (and depending how recently an account interacted with the Steem blockchain, the definition of active can vary) but among those considered active by the statistics that tracks, as of today there are
8,223 minnows
1,681 dolphins
260 orcas (hush) and
37 whales.
So anyone who’s minnow or larger is well within the top 1%.
Let that sink in. Here in Steemlandia, being a minnow puts you in the top 1% of all accounts.
One million Vests (currently 492.243 Steem Power) is the threshold to minnowhood. Minnowness. Being enminnownated. Whatever the heck it might be called.
Steem is currently on sale for $1.67 so it takes $822 to be among the top 1% of Steem Power hodlers.
Think for a few moments about what it might mean for you and your family if you joined that 1% today and, a few years from now, a hundred million people were interacting with the Steem blockchain and thousands of entrepreneurs had issued Smart Media Tokens, all of which will need Steem Power for bandwidth.
In such a possible future, $822 might look like a small price to have paid to have joined the 1% club.
