As a new steemit user here, this was so so useful. Glad i found this post, its so true about the whole followers and asking for upvotes. Only been on this platform for less than a week but i have already seen so many users who do this! Kind of annoying really as I'm sure many would want genuine followers who follow and upcote because they actually really do like your content. Its like instagram and twitter so many have tons of followers but barely any likes on their posts - their followers like their posts once or twice just for the sake of it or in the hopes to get a follow or like back but in reality, they're not actually bothered about the persons content 🙄
