Is it too early to start talking about something that has publically been stated, ‘is now in testing?’
I for one am quite excited about this and communities, but I see little being written about it.
Maybe it’s the false promises we have been sent over the last 2 years and the non-delivery of something that has long been awaited.
Will it deliver what we are expecting?
To put it another way, how is this going to be different from https://steem-engine.com/. These are questions I’m dying to ask the guys from Steemit INC, in 2 weeks.
They are all going to Steemfest 4 to talk about what else other than SMT’s and Communities surely?
One of the points mentioned in the Steemit INC blog posts was that initially, the front end is going to look like Steemit.com. I find this disappointing, but is this just a shell front-end that is going to be provided that can be configured?
Some of you know that a passion of mine is Urban Exploration, and despite me trying to get some other’s interested I see precious little content on the blockchain other than my own.
It’s not like there’s a shortage of material on the many Facebook groups, and premier Urbex sites such as https://www.28dayslater.co.uk/ and https://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/, but if I created a SMT then how do I incite these people to at least cross-post something so niche on my newly created page?
To the outside world, the promise of a token won’t mean shit to many people. They just see it as some worthless kind of vapourware. If there is a monitory value to it, you always get the question, ‘how much?’.
The direct answer is, ‘more than the nothing you are currently receiving’, but this is not enough to sway people from the comfortable familiarity of rinse and repeat on Facebook or wherever else they post.
When they hear its crypto, it puts the shitters up them even more.
‘What…., that scam BitCoin’, is the predictable response.
From what I can gather, the Steemian who creates the SMT rules the roost, generates the rules and releases the airdrops.
There are so many questions that I need to ask, and with the new ‘feature’ now being tested, surely somebody has some answers for me.
- Can I create an SMT named ‘Urbex’?
- Can the token be named, ‘Urbex’?
- What will become of all the tribes? Will they merge, become obsolete, compete with and if so will there be a war for dominance?
- From what I gather... to create one, it's just a few STEEM, but how about the maintenance?
Apologies if these questions have already been answered elsewhere, but we can't be current with all STEEM affairs.
The following Steemians I have noticed in the past have either created Urbex content, have posted photographs or have expressed an interest in this unusual, dangerous, photograph exploration based hobby:

You can see that I have my work cut for me, but still I am going to try. Many of the above have simply touched on the subject, but I have been noticing and planning for what will come in the future.
I’m not expecting everyone to write 700 word essays about when they pass a particularly looking creepy house. I probably would, but I understand not everyone is me. It’s about photography as well as the ‘getting in’ part.
Creepy looking places always catch the eye, I don’t think anyone can deny that. Can you take photographs of a creepy looking place, even if they are just exterior ones?
I hope I can get some more interest in this fascinating subject, even if you live in a country that’s far too dangerous to explore, such as America.
Do you have any plans for your own SMT? Are any of them stranger than mine? We will see!
