I have a super early morning and a very long day ahead tomorrow so I am just about to hit the sack but, I thought I would quickly remind of two situations that are in play now.
SBD print rate
Firstly, you might have noticed that post payouts are coming in three sections now if set to 50/50; SP, liquid SBD and liquid Steem. This is because Steem price has dropped so much that the SBD printing is slowing to keep debt below 10%. Hardfork 20 moved the straight line decrease from between 2-5% up to 9-10% and with the SBD print rate currently at 44% based on the 3.5 day average, it means that the debt is about 9.66%. Expect that it will stop printing tomorrow.
With the price of SBD low also and a supply of only 13 million, it is possibly a target for a pump once it stops printing but, don't quote me on that one, just something to think about.
Dust votes
From my understanding, the dust threshold is still in play which means payouts under 0.02 SBD will be lost, this includes on comments also. There are services like that can save them for a small fee some might consider using. With prices so low, people should consider their voting weight when voting on comments so as to hopefully be able to reach past the 2 cent barrier. The payouts that don't make it past dust have the value returned to the pool for distribution.
It isn't all bad news
What I did notice however from steemd.com is that the reward fund seems to be about 10% larger than normal. Usually it is sitting around the 750K Steem mark. I am not sure why but there it is, up for grabs by those who are still actively posting on the platform.
For those looking long term on Steem and who are unable (or unwilling) to buy what is available on exchanges and want to earn it on the platform, low price is an opportunity to earn more Steem as those who are here to sell what they get immediately, generally post less as it isn't worth their time. Price is a spam filter in some ways.
What I do recommend though is that you support the authors you enjoy a little more heavily at these kinds of times and that includes, adding some comments around the place and resteeming a little. As you might recall from a recent post I wrote, vests draw from the pool, not price which means increasing the voting percentage will increase the draw on the pool and actually distribute more Steem to a user. Use this to help those you think are doing a good job for Steem and work regardless of the price as they will be the ones still helping when price is high too.
It is hard on everyone for various reasons but a community that stands together and engages with each other are much more resilient than lone wolves. Those that are a little anxious or upset by the price might find that engaging well and having some fun in the comments sections or in the chats will do wonders for the nerves and mood. Also, price does some strange things to people for various reasons, so be a little understanding and remain calm.
Anyway, it is time for bed in preparation for a 530 wake up alarm.
Goodnight.
Taraz
