Cryptocurrency is kicking off the Age of Abundance.
It is the first, in what I expect to be, a long series of events that revolutionize society and uplift humanity from the doldrums that it is mired in. This process will take a few decades but the signs are already appearing.
Crypto-economics is the next stage in our financial and economic system. It is going to affect every area of life. Nothing will be spared the change that is coming. This has many who are profiting off the existing financial system very nervous. They see the use for their services diminishing as time goes by.
When we discuss cryptocurrencies or tokens, most people jump to those listed on coinmarketcap.com. They think of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, and, of course, STEEM. These are the tokens commonly discussed. People view them as either flat out money or as a means to provide incentive for specific behavior (or both). Either way, they are overlooking a vast amount of the market.
Within the next 10 years we will see everything tokenized. Our entire global economy will be converted to this system. The advantages provided by this monetary system is simply too great for the masses to ignore.
This chart is fairly well known. It was posted a number of different times to show how big markets are.

Scroll down to real estate. That is a few hundred TRILLION dollars in wealth just sitting on the sidelines in a non-liquid state. This is a problem because there is a cost to moving an asset such as this. Unlike stocks or bonds where there is a small fee charged, the cost to unload a piece of real estate is costly.
Tokens will free up hundreds of trillions of dollars that is presently stagnant.
This is also an area that is potentially devastating to the banks. Making loans on real estate is one of their largest money makers (at least for the non-investment banks). What happens when someone decides to use tokens instead of a bank to finance the transaction. Or even better, what if an individual has a loan out against 30% of the house. This person can tokenized that percentage, pay off the debt, and remove all interest from the equation. The tokens will be bought and sold on the open market with the potential of being retired when the property is sold. This all could be handled through smart contracts.
Here is a very good article that discusses this:

This unleashing of wealth coincides with rapid advancements in all the categories of AI. The wealth that is going to be created over the next 20 years is going to be mind-boggling. What is different from the past is average individuals are going to share in the process. Unlike our present economy, crypto-economics is for the many, not just the few.
Ethereum, EOS, Bitshares and, soon, STEEM will all be generating tokens. Sure, many of these projects will end up worthless. We must keep in mind that there is going to be a ton of experimentation and innovation taking place. Nevertheless, those projects that create communities around their projects will have tokens of value. The nice part is that average people are able to get a hold of them. We are seeing airdrops, bounty programs, or simple rewards paid as incentive for certain activities.
This is only going to grow. I try to post about new projects as they appear on STEEM. All are based upon good ideas. Time will tell which ones work out but the foundation is being laid. Failures will happen so it is best to keep that in mind.
Tokens streamline processes. That is their main advantage. The crypto-economy will operate with a lot less friction as levels of interference are eliminated. We are going to see a lot less players involved in transactions. This will streamline (read save money) our entire economic system.
It is wonderful to see the system changing before our eyes. In 20 years, we will be amazed that we lived in the manner that we did. The entire planet is shifting for the better.
A better monetary is only the start.
Welcome to the Age of Abundance.
