With YouTube taking away more of our income, people are flocking to steemit, the new online community. I am seeing more and more people leaving YouTube, looking for a new place to settle in.
I work mostly with homesteaders and we seem to have taken a very bad hit with the new YT updates and demonetization of our videos. It seems like every second video gets banned from advertising these days.
People with large and small channels alike are taking a loss with the new YT software in place. We work hard to get a video online for your free viewing entertainment and then YT blocks it from advertising.
So it is like someone who has a 9 - 5 job, five days a week. The person is doing the same amount of work but the pay is reduced by about 1/2 or more.
And YouTube is making it ever harder for content creators to make it. They put more demands on us if we want our videos to be found in search results but then it seems like they are making it impossible for us to keep up with their demands.
Take video demonetization for example. YouTube tells us that we should upload a video every day and release it at the same time each day. But then they block our video from monetization. We worked hard to get that video up. So we make it private and put in a request for a manual review. 24 to 48 hours later the video is accepted. But now we are two days behind on our daily videos.
So YouTube told us to upload the video ahead of time and let the computer algorithm do its thing. Then, by the time we are ready to make the video live, it has run its course and is approved for monetization.
But the problem is that the video sits there all happy with green lights. So I make the video live and all is well. Later in the day the video has been labeled as "not suitable for all advertisers" and blocked from running ads. My income for the day is lost while I put in a dispute.
Basically I worked for free on that day.
And I am not alone in this. There are thousands of people going through the same thing.
So what do we do?
Many are coming to steemit. There is no censorship, no person in control. There are no algorithms which decide our fates. It is all about content creation. And that is what YouTubers are good at.
I foresee steemit growing more and more as people continue to flee the sinking YT ship.
I will continue to make my daily YT videos but with less enthusiasm.
Steemit is the way to go these days.
Tell me what you think.
Have you come here from YouTube due to failing monetization?
