When I found out about Steemit in August 2017 - STEEM was worth about 1$.
Over the coming months, nothing really changed price-wise.
Until the end of november / beginning of december, when the SBD price exploded.
Price Explosion = Higher Activity
Suddenly, posting on Steemit was a lot more lucrative.
And then, around new-year 2018, STEEM made a huge push - up to 9 USD.
The timeframe between the beginning of December to the end of February was pretty much the golden-time for every Steemian.
And many, many users flocked to steemit, dtube, utopian, dlive and started posting & earning.
Nothing lasts forever
But as time went on, the STEEM & SBD prices both tumbled down and are now pretty much at the same level as they were when I started out on Steemit.
And as a result, the activity level also reduced. A lot of Steemians produced either less content or stopped totally over the last months.
For example - created a post just today, explaining that he switched "temporary" back to traditional blogging.
You see, I'm a blogger, I blog for a living, and since SBD price has plummeted, the rewards I was getting weren't enough for me to write daily around here - my posts are always well thought and required hard work, which consumed brainpower and time... something I had to dedicate to my mainstream blogs. -
Now, I can understand the reasoning, especially when one has to live of their blogs.
But on the other hand - stopping something completely because it's not enough for short-term goals - I wouldn't recommend that.
Can't stop - Won't stop
While the liquid revenue paid out in SBD is worth a lot less than a few months ago, you get paid more STEEM & SP as author rewards in return.
And SP - is compounded interest at it's best. The more you have, the more revenue you can generate passively - for example by investing it with Smartsteem.com.
Now if your primary goal was it to earn SBD or SP (and power that down) and sell it to FIAT - then this is truly not a great time right now.
But.. if it's your goal to accumulate as much Steempower as possible (and even SBD if you like to gamble) - then now - is always the perfect time.
Let me repeat:
Now is always the perfect time!
STEEM is the blockchain of opportunity. If you truly want to succeed on STEEM, then you will. You just need persistence.
