The idea to this post was inspired after I read this post written by where he talked about recruiting another big Youtuber called
to STEEMIT.
And I was intrigued, so I checked out the profile of and what I saw there - was actually something I expected..
Steemit getting used as a simple tool of sharing Content - without even spending time into creating content around it for Steemit itself.
Steemit is not just another social media site
But people treat it like that. Especially the ones who are already successful on YouTube or Instagram & Co.
They create simple posts with a few sentences and a link to their video on youtube or upload it to and expect some results. But probably because they don't know any better.
However, the truth is that Steemit is not just another social-media site. It is much much more.
It is a mix of everything we have ever known before. It is part Facebook, part Medium, part Youtube, part instagram and more.
While this might probably change over the next year(s) - right now at least, Steemit is something very different than most people know.
Which is not a bad thing, though!
Steemit is about the connection between Author, Reader and Content
The most important part on Steemit is in my opinion the connection between the Author and the Reader and the bridge inbetween, called: Content.
At least in this current state
On videos from successful Youtuber's are so many comments, that many focus more on producing content than to engage.
And since they know this from Youtube, they try the same with Steemit. Producing Content and then letting it sit there.
But the truth is: this doesn't work here.
The content has to fit to Steemit
Partly also because the content - has to be authentic and fit to Steemit.
What I mean by that is:
Let's take a great Steemian as an example - - who is creating written Posts but also Vlogs and Videos on
.
The video above is one of my favourites of him, because:
1.) he is very honest and authentic in it. Talking about his feelings and thoughts.
2.) he is engaging with his watchers and readers. Asking questions and for feedback.
3.) he is talking about something STEEM relevant - which is not a must though !
4.) he has also written a small article besides his video in which he is introducing his video and clearing up a few things upfront / afterwards
The 4th point is - for me - one of the most important ones that most people who are new on Steemit, like , are not doing. Which, again, is not their fault - Steemit is just different.
Creating a connection between the video and the blog-article.
Even if the video or original content that get's shared is not exclusively for STEEM - the Post has to be.
And it doesn't take much!
Simply writing your own thoughts or sharing behind-the-scenes photos and storys - there is a lot one can do there.
Why am I writing this?
Well. Steemit will become mainstream.
STEEM is the most useful cryptocurrency besides Ethereum - in my opinion.
And people will come to Steemit, try it out and might leave frustrated because it doesn't work the way they expected it to work.
Why do I think that?
Because I felt the same when I came here.
I had x-times the urge of just leaving Steem for good, but I didn't do it. And for that I'm extremely glad!!
But most people won't have the same frustration tolerance.
We are early adopters - don't forget that!
I'll create another Post in the near future, where I talk about the exact steps one should take to make the transtition from traditional Social-Media to Crypto-Social Media, but one thing I can say already.
Buy STEEM and POWER IT UP!!
Seriously. This is not joke.
STEEM will become more expensive and STEEMPOWER is the only way to influence once own success on STEEMIT besides producing great content / contributions.
So - my first tip for you would be: to take some of that ad-sense money and put it into STEEM and to power it up.
You know what - that's my tip for everyone!
