Currently, after a post is created there is a timeframe of 7 days ( or 6 1/2 days to be exact) in which votes will contribute to the payout. Once the 7 days are over - the payout gets added as balance to the author and curators. After that payout - every other votes on that post will result in nothing.
And I've been wondering about the question:
Is there an alternative?
I understand that this happens, because of just the way blockchains work, but this also means that people have no real interest in creating content that last. For example - when I go on youtube - I expect to find new videos but even videos that are a few years old are still relevant. When I upvote there - I want to show my support. But if I upvote here on steemit (or dtube) the upvote results in nothing - I get nothing in return and the author neither. So I wouldn't upvote - even if I really liked what the author wrote or the person, in the video, did.
Now -I've read this link about how there was a time when a second payout was triggered after 30 days and I'm wondering why it was removed.
Result: Quality over Quantity
It would greatly improve the value people see in steem, if they realise that they can earn from their contributions for a long time and that only good content is profitable. I mean there are a lot of articles that are found through google on steemit - some are outdated but some are still valid.
And this is even more important when we talk about videos on dtube.
The last thing we need is for people to create videos just for the sake of spamming it out without real value. For example - in my last post I shared a few videos of Jackson Palmer - the guy isn't doing a lot of videos maybe 1 every 1 or 2 weeks but they have quality. They have structure and this should be rewarded - even after the 7 days.
What is your opinion about that?
Do you see a way to solve this problem?

All the best,
