I realize by posting this I may very well be shooting myself in the foot. But fuck it, I've never been one to shy away from controversy... so this is happening!
Let me start with this:
I understand that Steemit is founded on crypto-currency. I get it! I understand people are going to post about Steem and Bitcoin. Still, I get it. And I understand that this is a community that supports others that support Steem and Bitcoin. Yep! Once again, I get it!
What I don't get?
Why every time anybody post about Steem or Bitcoin, NO MATTER HOW BULLSHIT THE POST ARE, are upvoted out the ass!
Now when I say BULLSHIT, I don't mean someone wrote a post I have no personal interest in.
What I mean by BULLSHIT:
- Grammatically awful (one guy didn't even use periods.)
- Terrible post structure
- Misspellings... SO MANY MISSPELLINGS
- Ridiculously small word count (like less than 100 words... sometimes it's just pics.)
- Generic updates on the same topics (pretty sure some are just copied and pasted.)
But because "BITCOIN" or "STEEM" are in the title of their post, the up arrows are clicked...
And the circle-jerk begins!
Again, this isn't me voicing my personal taste on the subject matter, I'm talking about actual bad post! And to see it day after day makes one wonder...
"What the hell is really going on here?"
Do you "HAVE" to write about Steem and Bitcoin to receive upvotes on this site? Cause personally, though I have I general understanding of these things, it isn't something I actually care to write about on a regular basis.
It's not "my thing." I even tried to write about it once or twice and I don't even feel good about what I wrote because I felt like I was doing it purely for the wrong reasons. I wish I did have more of interest in this topic cause as someone who does get paid to write, it would be much easier if I did.
But if that is the formula, I would rather it have been upfront from the start before I began writing post after post, cause obviously this is not the forum for really anything other than crypto-currency conversations.
CONCLUSION
Maybe I'm missing something. I'll be the first to admit I'm not the smartest man in the world. And if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. We're all adults here. But so far, I haven't seen much that proves otherwise.
(And yes I know there are some who write about other things that have done ok. But I'm talking about the norm, not the exceptions.)
