What is Competition?
Competition as I would love to define in simple terms is contest or rivalry.
A show or display of superiority, efficiency, skill etc.
FORMS OF COMPETITION
Competitions can be good and also bad, depending on the aim, objectives and ends results or purpose to which it was established.
Over the years most of us have known competitions as mere tournaments or rounds of events ranging from sports, entertainment etc.
While a large number of us have also known, seen and taken competition as a day to day endeavor as we go through life.
Now the way we see and handle this term competition matters a lot, that’s why we see some moving with giant stride and others deteriorating.
Outside the tournaments and rounds of events in the entertainment and sport community are we supposed to engage in other Forms of Competitions??
My response is YES!!! I will tell you why and what kind.
First, the fact that you came to live,is as a result of a competition that you performed quite well,am talking about the the fact that before you were conceived you out swam over 1million other sperms to be the right one to fertilize the eggs, that was the first competition we ever took part in.
Coming from that to the place where we are,I think the next and major competition should be ourselves and not others, thriving to be better than we use to,trying to out do our past and also setting new standards and records for ourselves.
Why? Cause most times the moment you begin to compete with others 1)you begin to loose sight of your own goals and intent to why you started 2)you begin to see and take note of your errors and weakness rather than concentrate on your strength and drive and 3)you become envious and jealous full of hatred and anger for what you don’t have, haven’t achieved or think you can’t achieve.
On the other hand, competitions could be quite healthy cause 1) it helps you measure your milestones 2)helps you see how far and how well you can still do if you remain abreast to your goals and 3)keeps you focused and keeps your hands on deck to get it done.
It reminds me of when I was much younger and my mum then used to compare me with my cousins and kids in the estate, rather than make me feel bad or envious, it pushed me to becoming the better man I am today, being even more successful and charitable than them all. Which brings me to my closing point,You can only be responsible for whatever you become and what kind of competition you decide to get into and also the outcome you are expecting. In all, don’t Forget to be a good sportsman/woman.
