At the great discourse between Jesus and the Samaritan woman, Jesus told her pointedly that God was seeking those who would fully worship Him(John 4 23-24). That search continues till date.
The reason why God is reconciling the world to Himself, is that we might worship Him. In Isaiah 43:21
He said:
This people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.
Worship is our ultimate call as Christians. By it we acknowledge the supremacy of God and our total dependence on Him. Worship is our spiritual duty to God. For it to be accepted, it must be genuine.
They that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Do you know that it is possible for a Christian to be regular in Church and yet be absent in God's presence?. Because worship is a spiritual exercise, it also involves the heart and whatever controls the heart really controls the body.
You are not worshiping God when you are conscious of who you are. You are not worshipping God when your motive is to ask.
You only worship God when you are conscious of His presence and how privileged you are to stand before Him. You only worship God when you see His strength taking care of your weakness, Isaiah 6 verse 1 to 5.
You cannot worship God from a distance.
He cannot be worshipped by proxy. You must come to His presence, for that is the place of worship.
