This time I want to reflect on the role of husband in the family. A man, as a husband and father, in a family and society has a special place and plays an irreplaceable role in the physical, social and spiritual plan.
But the matter is complicated by the fact that in the modern world there are many very different ideas about how to be a man, how he looks and what to do, and the pattern of God is completely lost in this discord of opinions.
It is appropriate to talk about the crisis of the role of men both in society as a whole and in the family in particular, which led to a confusion of concepts about how a man should behave.
This confirms a series of symptoms: the growth of sexual crimes, homosexuality, divorce, machismo and extreme feminism, disputes over the roles of men and women in the church, women in traditionally masculine roles, etc. Such a crisis is caused by many reasons, the main one of which is the loss by the majority of men and fathers of spiritual guidelines and priorities in relation to their true calling and mission.
"I also want you to know that for each husband the head is Christ, the wife for the head is the husband and for Christ the head is God" (1 Cor. 11: 3).
God created a man and a woman with a different nature and different areas of responsibility, and does not change their purpose. God creates everything in perfect order and harmony, and established a certain hierarchy in the family. Maintaining this order brings blessing, and the breach leads to difficulties and suffering, because ultimately, the breach is a manifestation of a person's pride and rebellion against God. We want to do everything our way, but the Lord has established for the husband and wife the most perfect purpose, in which the nature of man and woman is revealed and manifests itself better.
In Christ, there is perfect spiritual equality between a man and a woman as heirs of God's grace, and this equality presupposes order and subjection with respect to authority. There is no place for repression or oppression, on the contrary, the husband must recognize the dignity that God gave to the woman in creation.
There are five priorities in our lives: relationships with God, with a wife, with children, ministry, work. Each of them should receive due attention. When the husband and wife are in the right position before God and among themselves, they will be happy in their family.
