The Rechabites are the children of a man whose name was Rechab.
Their father told them that their grandfather, commanded them not to drink wine or any hot drink, all the days of their life's.
And the prophet brought them into the chamber of the house of Yahweh and set before them a pot of wine and hot drink, but they refused to drink, respecting the word of their father's.
Though their fathers were dead but they were still respecting and upholding his words. (Jerimiah 35: 12-17).
Now here is the question:
HOW MANY OF US CAN DO THAT.
Malachi 1:6a; says a son honours his father and a servant his master, if then I be a father, were is my honour, and if I be a master, where is my fear.
How have you been keeping the commandments of your heavenly father, even though you ain't seeing him, for he said in John 14:15, that if you love him, keep his commandments, whether you are seeing him or not.
Just like the Rechabites; their fathers were no more, yet they never compromised their stands.
They was no one to caution them if they took the wine, yet they stood their grounds.
How about you? yes you.
For your love for your God can only be proved by the way you fear and keep his words in your life.
You hear his words daily or weekly, yet you ignore and go your way, and say "please am not the only one, besides everyone is a sinner".
Yes you might be right but remember the bible made us understand that we have to STRIVE to obey his words.
James ;1:22-25, made us understand that not the hearers but the doers are justified.
I therefore employ to check your lives and ask yourself, AM I A REACHABLE?.
if your answer is no, then you still have time to make the decision, for you might be a worker in church, an apostle, a pastor or whatever, but remember, "that many are called but few are choosen".
