The tithe is to offer a tenth of our income for the support of the work of God in the local church to which we belong
In theory this topic is clear, tithing represents a collaboration to develop the work of God in the church that you attend, has been a stone in the shoe for people of little faith, the first thing that comes to mind is where my money? My money will not be administered by a pastor? Well, you must be aware that the tithe emanates from God and as such is argued and has a logic, it tells us that in the obedient church this should not happen, but also tells us that there will be false teachers will make profits from the house of god, in a certain part this awakens a feeling of helplessness but we must be clear that Jehovah grants us free will and he will know how to judge hearts in good faith and those of bad faith
The motivation
It is important in any circumstance in life to do heart actions, the eye of Jehovah does not miss anything and he will be clear of your position, you should do good without looking at whom, the tithe does not escape from this reality your heart should Be honest and you can not deliver something of value by expecting something similar or greater.
The argument against the tithe.
- The tithe was a matter of the Old Covenant, part of God's covenant with his people Israel, Christians are not under that covenant so it was never something for us today. Not once does the New Testament tell us that we must tithe (some wrongly add that those who practice tithing are seeking to keep the law and be saved in doing so, when the motivation of these churches to tithing is not to keep the law but to sustain the local work.)
- The tithe was never money, it was giving the tenth part of the crop that was produced and the animals generated. The storehouse mentioned in Malachi 3:10 was not a dish to collect offerings but a store of grain or food.
- It is assumed that the tithe was not for the poor, but for those who had crops and livestock. That's why it's wrong that today they ask people who are poor to tithe (of course, most people will put themselves in the category of poor and they will feel exempt from giving, but the Old Testament does not say that the tithe was not for the poor, the mandate is given to all poor or rich Israel who would reap little and be poor).
- The tithe was not always given everything, it could also be consumed and eaten and it was also to give to the poor, not always to the temple (here there is an error of confusion that we will clarify).
Reflection
Regardless of whether the tithe is the covenant of God with the people of Israel and we do not find it in the new testament, we must always bear in mind that the tithe is given to us by God, which is necessary and we should not neglect it in my particular case, perhaps because ignorance doubt but in our writings everything is argued, and by brothers barons good faith I could clarify certain doubts concerning the tithe. The message is to encourage the path to tithe as long as we have a sense of sincerity.
2 Corinthians 9: 6-7 He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully will also abundantly reap. Each one must give what he has decided to give in his heart, and do not do it with sadness or obligation, because God loves those who give with joy.
Remember it is something voluntary and personal between you and God, just as prayer is. Tithing is not a Law for us today but God asks that we give as we have prospered and that we give with joy and generosity, those are principles that God himself established
