Depression is a subject that affects many people, not only those who are not Christians, but also the children of God.
Today I will build on Psalm 42.
Psalm 42 Reina-Valera 1960 (NIV)
To the main musician. Pet of the sons of Korah.
42 As the deer roars for the currents of the waters,
So cry for you, oh God, my soul.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God;
When will I come, and will I appear before God?
3 My tears were my bread day and night,
While they tell me every day: Where is your God?
4 I remember these things, and pour my soul into me;
How I went with the crowd, and led her to the house of God,
Among voices of joy and praise of the people at the party.
5 Why do you get down, oh my soul,
And you trouble inside me?
Wait on God; because I still have to praise him,
Salvation of mine and my God.
6 My God, my soul is dejected in me;
I will remember you from the land of the Jordan,
And of the Hermonites, from the mount of Mizar.
7 An abyss calls another to the voice of your waterfalls;
All your waves and your waves have passed over me.
8 But by day the Lord will send his mercy,
And at night his song will be with me,
And my prayer to the God of my life.
9 I will say to God: My rock, why have you forgotten me?
Why will I be mourned by the oppression of the enemy?
10 As one who hurts my bones, my enemies afflict me,
Telling me every day: Where is your God?
11 Why do you fall down, oh my soul,
And why are you disturbed inside me?
Wait on God; because I still have to praise him,
Salvation of mine and my God.
I like this song very much, it is inspired by Psalm 42, how much of us go through such hard times in our lives that we feel that the soul is falling apart?
Sometimes we think that leaders, pastors, apostles, prophets do not get tired, they do not have emotional problems, they do not touch depression, let me tell you that there are times that humanity touches us strongly, and we fall into a well to which we see no way out , I imagine David, when he wrote this psalms he had no choice but to cry out to God, his soul was dry, only the water of life could make him green again.
Thousands of people in the world go to psychiatric consultations to treat depression, and many will say that Christians are exempt, but we have an enemy that wants to destroy us and the first thing it does is discourage us.
A Christian who falls into discouragement, is a Christian who falls into feelings of guilt, it is terrible to fall into discouragement and not see the exit door.Many men in the scriptures: David, Jeremias, Pedro, Elias went through moments, stages of a deep depression, it is normal that we can fall into depression what is not normal is that we cling to and remain in it.
If we go to the doctor, he will prescribe tranquilizers, if the psychologist or psychiatry is not full of the spirit, they will treat the effect but the root will remain the same.
The secret of happiness is to live for others, we have to stop being selfish and start thinking about what we have to do for our neighbor.
The psalmist clearly says that the soul is torn apart, which makes me think that the principle of his depression was for plans that were not fulfilled ..When this happens remember that those who love God all things help us well, God never leaves his children at the mercy of the defeated enemy.The devil works in the short term but God works in patience for our growth, in his time.
Another point to get depressed is when God does not answer what we want, it is frustrating, but most of the problems are within us.There is something in our life that prevents God from blessing us.
Let's not keep blocking God's blessings, let's get rid of all burdens, there are people who are waiting for us, it's time to let the spirit flow in us.
Sometimes we can't get answers from God, because his thoughts are bigger than ours, every time you feel discouraged remember that Jesus loves you and gave his life for us.
There is an invisible force that operates in us to act ahead of time, get tired or depressed, the secret: wait on God, because I still have to praise Him.
God is testing us, brothers and sisters and cast out all negative feelings and all depression in the name of Jesus!
