KJV:And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

6
KJV:He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

KJV:And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8
KJV:And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9
KJV:And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

19
KJV:Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20
KJV:Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come: see the place where he lay v. 6
We conclude the book of Matthew today with the story of the resurrection. The woman asual were so committed ( Mary Magdalene and the Mary. V1). They remained courageous and went to check on Jesus'body in spite of the fact that guards were posted there and that all the other disciples had fled.
On getting there they met an angel who had rolled away the stone and sat on it's hallelujah! Finally God demonstrated his mighty power by raising his son Jesus from death.
Jesus is risen! It is not a mere story, he has actually risen, they saw him, he spoke to them and they touched him. This is part of what the apostles John meant in 1 john1:1. They were very sure of what they saw and therefore can testify to the whole world that Jesus is risen!
It is from this kind of solid assurance that the great commission of discipleship and evangelism flows, we testify to what we are certain of (vv. 16-20). Men have continued to deny the resurrection like we see in vv. 11-15 but anyone who is willing to examine the fact with an open mind can will confirm the truth.
Christ’s resurrection destiny— His foreordained purpose— was to bring “many sons to glory” ( Hebrews 2:10 ). The fulfilling of His destiny gives Him the right to make us sons and daughters of God. We never have exactly the same relationship to God that the Son of God has, but we are brought by the Son into the relation of sonship. When our Lord rose from the dead, He rose to an absolutely new life— a life He had never lived before He was God Incarnate. He rose to a life that had never been before. And what His resurrection means for us is that we are raised to His risen life, not to our old life. One day we will have a body like His glorious body, but we can know here and now the power and effectiveness of His resurrection and can “walk in newness of life” ( Romans 6:4 ). Paul’s determined purpose was to “know Him and the power of His resurrection ” ( Philippians 3:10 ).
Let us therefore go out with his assurance and joy and bear witness to the goodness and glory of our Lord to the world!
Prayer: eternal father in the light of his resurrection, help me to be a powerful witness to his glory
