today I will be talking about wisdom but not just any wisdom, the wisdom from above, too many Christians lack wisdom from above and is because we didn't ask for it.
gaining wisdom from God is a most valued and righteous treasure. We know that living in fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and God will grace us with it. For God laid up sound wisdom for the righteous.Lord, wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, full of mercy, full of good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct. Ecc10:10
Wisdom is knowing the right thing to do from the Word and doing it – Jn. 21:5-6/ Luke 6:40
Wisdom is knowing the right steps take and right turn to make from Word and following suit – 1 Pet. 2:21/ Ps. 119:105/ 2 Tim. 3:16-17
God’s word is wisdom in print – Luke 11:49/ Job.28:7-23/27/ Isa. 34:16/ 2 Cor. 3:15-17/ 2Tim. 3:15.
Wisdom from above is validated by mighty works – Ps. 104:24/ Jer. 10:12/Matt. 13:54/ Job.28:7-23.
Wisdom is being sensitive to the times and seasons of life – Ecc. 10:10/ Ecc. 3:11/ Luk. 19:44
We understand the bible recognizes four kinds of wisdom as stated in James 3: 15 -
“This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.”
Three of these kinds of wisdom are enumerated in this verse:
Earthly: This is what we call common sense. That is, wisdom that is common to all living.
Sensual: This implies intellectual wisdom, which one contacts through intellectual engagement such as schooling, reading, research etc.
Devilish: Connotes diabolical and manipulative wisdom
Verse 17 talks about the wisdom from above
Wisdom from above which connotes the wisdom of God made available to man.
What is unique about the wisdom from above?
The bible declares that:
“He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all”. Jn 3:31
The wisdom from above is above all as exemplified in:
Joseph - Gen 38: 41-44
Solomon - 1Kg 4:29-32
Daniel - Dan 5:11-12 and many others
From all the above it is clear that nothing flies like wisdom from above.

In conclusion
People in our lives may sometimes suggest we do what seems most gratifying or practical in the moment. But there is a difference between worldly and spiritual wisdom (1 Cor. 2:6-7). Wisdom from above “is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy” (James 3:17). When others are urging us to take a certain course of action, we can invite God to influence our response.
