Dears Christians of the SteemChurch! How are you? Did you read the Bible today?
I have enjoyed many readings in the publications of you that have put me to investigate. You are incredible!
I am very interested in researching the uses and customs of Biblical times and in those investigations, I discovered something interesting about the storage of wines at that time.
Nobody puts a patch of new cloth on an old suit; because the patch takes part of the suit, and the break becomes greater. Nor does new wine put in old wineskins; otherwise, the wineskins are broken, the wine is spilled and the wineskins are lost. But new wine is poured into new wineskins, and thus both are preserved. (Matthew 9: 16-17)
As you can see, the old containers did not look like these current beauties:
The wineskins were the most used vessels at the time of Jesus. They were made with the skin of goats, kids and, sometimes, oxen, buffaloes or camels. The skin went through a process in which it was tanned and smoked, the openings were sewn and sealed with bitumen, only thus, the skin was ready to be used.
With the passage of time, the wineskin used to dry and lost its elasticity. Thus, a new wine used to ferment and increase its volume and, as the old wineskin could no longer be expanded, it ended up breaking and spilling the wine. In this way, both the drink and the container were lost. Therefore, only a new wineskin could contain a new wine.
By the way,
should know about this, much more than us.
Sniff and Scurry are very famous in the chain of blocks, if you do not know, go to the #sniffnscurry cheese station.
Now!
We have seen how many new things Grace brings to our life. As it is written:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, who gathers in him in the dispensation of the fulness of times, all things, both in heaven and earth "(Ephesians 1: 3-10).
How many possibilities! God does infinitely more than we ask or think according to his power that works on us. Now, the power of God is unlimited and does not mean people. It is we who define, through our faith, the intensity of the power that will operate in our lives.
It means, then, that blessings and newness of life are manifested in us according to our ability to expand.
The grace of Christ is the new wine that pours into our hearts, therefore, so that the wine is not wasted, we must observe if our heart is already a new wineskin.
Thus, those blessings will remain in us according to the ability to remain whole, intact. We need to be careful with our heart, for sin parches our joy, causing our life to break, preventing us from living the fullness of that for which we were predestined.
Do not forget that:
Above all else, guard your heart; Because of it flows life.
Proverbs 4:23
