In fact, we can find stories of covenants between God and His people approximately 277 times in the Bible. Deuteronomy 7: 9 says "Know, therefore, that Jehovah your God is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy to those who love him and keep his commandments, up to a thousand generations."
The faithfulness of God is completely evident in His relationship with the Hebrew / Jewish people. God made a covenant of land with Abraham (patriarch of many nations) and has never rescinded what he promised. Although the Jewish people have been scattered throughout the world, God promised that they would return to the land that He promised to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all their descendants (Zechariah 8: 7-8).
Among the fulfilled promises of God we find that the people of Israel would once again be a nation on earth that He says belongs to them. This prophecy, made in the Old Testament, was fulfilled in May 1948. Since then, the Jewish people have been returning home.
Examples of God's faithfulness in keeping His covenants with others can be found in the following verses:
With Noah (God will save Noah and his family) - Genesis 6: 17-18; 9: 9-17
With Ishmael (God will bless Ishmael and his descendants) - Genesis 17: 18-20
With Moses (God will save the Israelites if they obey) Exodus 19: 5
With Jacob (God reaffirms the eternal covenant with Israel) Psalm 105: 10
Literally, there are dozens more scriptures about God's faithfulness. However, none can be more transformative for our lives than those that declare His forgiveness of our sins. There are many Old Testament prophecies that promise the advent of a Messiah or Savior. The faithful promise of God was fulfilled in the New Testament when he sent Jesus to pay for our sins. Regardless of the sins we have committed, no matter how "bad" we are, God is faithful to forgive us if we accept Jesus and repent of our sins.
God is so faithful that anyone who looks for him can find him. Faith is a gift, but even a gift must be opened in order to enjoy it. As we put our faith into practice, we begin to realize more and more of God's faithfulness to us.
First Corinthians 1: 9 - Faithful is God, by whom you were called to communion with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
First Corinthians 10:13 - No temptation has overtaken you other than human. But faithful is God who will not let you be tempted beyond what you can resist. But it will also give with the temptation the way out, so that you can endure. "
Second Thessalonians 3: 3 - "But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and keep you from evil."
With total certainty, we can have the confidence that God will forgive us. Without the ability to do so, it would not be God. He is the only true God (John 17: 3) and the gods of no other religion promise this. Since He has made this promise, and we know that He can not break His word, we know that this would go against His nature and that He can not lie (Numbers 23:19). Our God is a faithful God, and there is no other who can do all that He can do and has done.
I share with you this subject of much blessing and reflection, about the faithfulness of God.
