"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ Jesus, and through us he manifests in every place the odor of his knowledge" (2 Corinthians 2:14).
The Apostle Paul with deep trust and confidence speaks of the triumph we always obtain in Christ; When he was converted, his mind was enlightened and he was able to understand each of the achievements that Jesus obtained on the Cross of Calvary, which also benefit each one of us.
The spiritual eyes of the Apostle were opened and he could clearly see what happened in the spiritual world regarding the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
For a moment the darkness manifested as He hung from the tree; they were like an army organized into squads led by demonic principalities with the sole purpose of destroying the body of Jesus; they wanted to extinguish the light of justice once and for all.
But when they thought they had won, the whole picture changed. The death of Jesus on the Cross liberated the power of God and the demonic spirits met, not before a Christ who died in weakness, but before the powerful of Israel, before whom God exalted to the utmost and gave him a name that is above every name, that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in the heavens and on earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord.
Fear, confusion and uncertainty seized the forces of evil, who had nowhere to flee; it was the Lord himself who snatched the decree of decrees that the princes and rulers of the darkness of this world had against the people of God, and when the demonic powers turned their gaze to the cross, trying to understand what was happening, all the arguments they had in their hands were absorbed by the cross itself, leaving no way to accuse the people of God (Colossians 2:14).
Then one by one the princes of evil were chained and displayed on that cross, as a sample of the trophy that the Lord had obtained over them (Colossians 2:15). I think the sky joined to sing a powerful hymn saying:
"Lift up, O gates, your heads,
And lift yourselves, eternal doors,
And the King of glory will enter. Who is this King of glory?
Jehovah the strong and courageous, Jehovah the mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift yourselves, eternal doors,
And the King of glory will enter.
Who is this King of glory?
Jehovah of hosts, He is the King of glory "
(Psalm 24: 7-10)
The gates of heaven were opened for the redeeming power to enter, not only as the King of heaven, but as the greatest conqueror. The Apostle Paul in this regard said: "Going up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.
And that of what went up, what is it, but had also descended first to the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is the same who also ascended above all the heavens to fill everything "(Ephesians 4: 8-10).
What can we do by deeply understanding what Jesus did for us? We can only thank Him for His infinite mercy and for having included us in His plan of salvation.
For many years Tomás Carter's mother prayed that God would save the soul of his son and make him a preacher of the Gospel. The son was a criminal and had been imprisoned for his crimes. While he was in prison, that mother continued to intercede for her son, firmly believing that God would answer his prayer. One day a telegram arrived from the prison, informing her that her son had died, she was stunned with the news because she could not believe it, she went to her room and prayed saying "Lord I have believed in Your promises, I have believed in Your Word.
I believed that I would see my son Thomas alive and preach the gospel, and I receive this telegram saying that he is dead. Sir, who will be right? The telegram or Your Word? "
Then, he got up and sent the following telegram to the jail: "There must be an error. My son is not dead. " Actually there was an error, because Tomás Carter was alive. Soon, this man knew God and had a shocking conversion; When he left prison he began to win souls for Christ and became a powerful evangelist. God transforms!
