"Where are you?" (Genesis 3:9, ESV)
The gracious God of creation is always in the business of seeking for sinners to save them. It is true that men must seek the Lord whiles he can be found for their salvation. But how can they find him unless he avails himself? If God doesn't first seek for the sinner, how can the sinner find him? This is why the saying 'salvation is of the Lord' always stands true.
It's truly of the Lord. He initiates it and ends it. He's the Author and Finisher of our faith. In this small text quoted above, we see God seeking for his people. Where are you? is his calling. Before this, we know the story of the fall. Adam and Eve had eaten of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and had died just as the Lord had already commanded them that 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'" (Genesis 3:3, ESV).
Remember that it's not God who drove them out of the garden at first. They rather felt their nakedness and hid from his presence. But God called them. Where are you? It's in a similar way that God is calling everyone. Sinners should come to their Savior Jesus for the garment of righteousness so that they can cover their nakedness in his presence. Christians also should likewise stay attached to the Vine for existence.
What prevents you from seeking the Lord? Is it sin? Oh, my dear one. The Lord has made provision for that. He had sent his One and only Son to serve as a sin for us. 'For our sake he made him be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.' (2 Corinthians 5:21, ESV). God is calling Adam and Eve to come back to him. Although they are naked, he has prepared a precious garment in the wardrobe of heaven ready to be given to them.
Don't waste time my friend. Search for him for he's searching for you. There's no one who had been denied for seeking him. All seekers find. Haven't you read what Matthew said in his gospel? Observe this assurance. 'For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.' (Matthew 7:8, ESV). Is there any assuring word greater than this? Isn't this enough to drive you to your savior for the Salvation of your wretched soul?
He's calling Where are you? Respond and hell up with you for eternity. You'll be received as a son or daughter into the Royal family Where you'll share the privileges of your Elder Brother Jesus Christ and reign with him forever and ever. Amen.
