Before God opened my eyes to some basic principles of the spirit, I never liked reading books on spiritual growths. I felt topics like that was meant for new believers(people who newly started the Christian race). I loved reading books on power, prayer, prosperity and leadership. But no! That was as a result of ignorance. No wonder it didn't work smoothly for me 'cus
Spiritual growth was the foundation for everything I wanted, but it was neglected.
Even Jesus needed to grow so he could fulfil his assignment on earth.
Luke 2:40(KJV)
[40]And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
The level of maturity of a Christian determines the kind of task that God trust him with. God doesn't give his big things to babes. He doesn't dislike them, he's just waiting for them to grow and be matured enough to a certain required level.
Spiritual growth is an increase in love for God, increase in hunger for God, increase in hours of personal fellowship, increase in level of sacrifice, increase ability to hear God accurately, increase in dedication to God's work and strong ability to resist fulfilling the desires of the flesh. this will lead to an increase in God's grace and anointing upon your life.
Rely on the available grace: you must understand that you can't do it on your own. God's grace is sufficient, so ride on it.
Be consistent: you grow spiritually by carrying out certain activities such as Praying, fellowship with the Holy Spirit, studying God's word(the Bible) and listening to some specific sermons. Consistency is needed for maximum result. When you can don't Fellowship a day and you don't miss God, then you're already missing God.
You need to submit to instructions:
1 Corinthians 4:14-16
[14]I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
[15]For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
[16]Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
For a speedy spiritual growth, you need spiritual instructors and a spiritual father, if easily accessible.
A Spiritual father and your spiritual instructors are like a shortcut.
They have been through most of the things you're going through presently and will still go through even in the future.
With your spiritual instructors, you don't need to be taught by your own experience which isn't a good teacher, he'll be there for you.
Your spiritual instructors don't have to be ordained ministers, they should be people that have a attained a level of spiritual maturity that you are yet to attain. Your spiritual father is the biggest physical coach you need for spiritual things.
Of course I said physical 'cus the Holy Spirit is bigger. He's more than enough, but that's when you know how to fellowship and listen to hear him accurately.Environment and friends: Actually a man that wants to be close to God must learn To stand out. He can't be a friend to just anyone. The word "friend" is a big word, unlike the way so many of us utilize it. A friend is someone who shares who complements you, He makes you complete. A friend shares your nature and vision.
The people you spend quality part of your time with determines the characters you're gonna exhibit. They're gonna influence your attitudes, the way you talk, the way you think and so much about you.
So if you really wanna grow spiritually, you must walk with people who genuinely love God. Genuinely, yeah! Because so many people claim to love God but they don't even have a relationship with him. It's really not possible to love God without having a relationship with him. As humans, it's natural to pay quality attention and spend reasonable time with whatever we love. The set of people I enjoy keeping company with the most are my leaders in church. My best friend too, he's burning with so much fire for God. This way I just find myself growing spiritually, so speedily and effortlessly.Be an intercessor and a soul winner: To be an intercessor is to stand in the gap for men, for societies and for communities.
God loves intercessors so much. Infact he reveals things to them like he does to no other set of people.
The act of interceding depicts a deep love for people, which can only be dug out from the pool of your love for God. Intercession increases your prayer life and your ability to hear God accurately.
Intercession increases your faith in God 'cus so many of your prayers are gonna be answered even faster than you expect.
Soul-winning gives God joy.
Mark 16:15 (KJV)
[15]And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Soul-winning is a Mandate given to every single believer. Soul-winning brings more of God's backup to your life in a more unique way.
You're gonna start getting more revelations from God's word even while you speak. Signs and wonders are gonna follow you as an evidence that you've got Heaven's backup.Go personal: Every single believer must learn to pray "lord, i wanna know you for myself". God doesn't deal with a group of people together, he deals with everyone personally. That why out of so many men, he called David a man after his own Earth. Don't get distracted by the kind of spiritual growth anyone is experiencing, you need to concentrate on your own.
You are so special to God and you are the biggest thing on his mind. You won't realize this till you get serious with him. There's gonna be Uniqueness in the way he's gonna relate with you. No one can invest directly in your spiritual life. They could only be of help to provide you with resources. For example, your pastor can not use your eyes to read the Bible or pray with your mouth. He can only tell you to and give you detailed reasons why you should. It's your duty to invest in your spiritual life. God taught me something very recently. When you give your life to God. He holds it and fixes completely in it all it needs to be successful and then he puts it back in your palm. He's already released the grace, the strength and everything you need. He watches you and anticipates your accomplishments of the goals.
Invest in your life!
