This is the story of a king and his friend, who saw every situation he finds himself(positive or negative) as something good. And he always remarks
This is good!.
It was the hunting season. The king and his close friend were on a hunting expedition. The friend loads and prepares the guns for the king, while the king shoots. In the process of preparing one of the guns, something went wrong and as the king tried to shoot the gun, his thumb was blown off.
The friend examining the situation exclaimed
This is good!
The king who was not taking any of it and been angry replied
No! this is NOT good
And then sent his friend to jail.
One year later, the king again went hunting, this time on his own in a dangerous area. He was captured by cannibals and taken to their village. His hands were ties, woods were stacked, a stake was set up and he was tied to it.
The cannibals were about to set the wood on fire but discovered the king was without a thumb. The cannibals being superstitious and had a tradition of not eating anyone less than whole untied the king and sent him home.
As the king returned home, he reminisced on the event that lead to him losing his thumb and he regretted the way he treated his friend. Immediately he went to prison where his friend was locked up to speak to him.
You were right my friend
The king said,
losing my thumb wasn't that bad
He then told his friend all that had happened to him.
I am sorry for putting you in jail for so long.
But his friend replied as usual
This is good.
The king was amazed "how is this good" . Then his friend replied, If I had not been in jail, I would have been with you when you were captured and the cannibals would have eaten me by now.
Lesson
Every disappointment is a blessing in disguise. In any situation you find yourself be optimistic, something good must definitely come out of it.
