Genesis 14:18-19
"And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the Most High God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth."
There is no institution on earth that teaches the blessing and its dynamics other than the Church.
THROUGH COMMUNION INVOLVING THE BREAD AND WINE
In today's Opening Scripture, we see how Melchizedek conferred the blessing on Abraham.
However before the blessing was conferred on Abraham, the Bible tells us that Melchizedek came with bread and wine. Bread and wine are covenant elements; they are elements of communion. The Lord Jesus Christ broke bread and gave wine to His disciples the night that He was betrayed. He took bread and broke it, and said "Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me." And then, He took the cup containing wine and after that He had supped, he said, ”This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of me."
(I Corinthians 11:23-26).
When Abraham saw the covenant elements of bread and wine, He knew Melchizedek had come to bring him into the covenant of blessing.
Beloved, anytime you come before the communion table, know that it is a time for interaction with the blessing. Always call to remembrance Jesus Christ, the One that entered into that eternal covenant of the blessing for you and always remember that you are a partaker of that blessing. Do not partake in the communion with a casual attitude. Be conscious that it is a covenant act in the dynamics of the blessing.
Jesus Christ paid the full price to get you out of the curse and bring you into the blessing. The curse is gone, and the blessing has come.
The blessing of Abraham is yours and you partake of it at the Lord's Table. The communion offers you the privilege to interact with the blessing. The body of Jesus Christ has been broken for you; therefore you enjoy wholeness.
The blood of Jesus has been shed for you; therefore your sins are forgiven and purged away, and now you can walk in the blessing unhindered. Let the light of the Communion enlighten your heart as you engage it in your walk in the blessing.
THROUGH THANKSGIVING AND TITHING
Genesis 14:20
"And blessed be the Most High God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all."
Tithing is a principal covenant way to fellowship with the blessing. Tithing did not begin with the Law; it is a covenant response to the blessing. Melchizedek blessed Abram, he did not ask Abram to give him the tithe of all the spoils of war. But Abram knew what to do to respond correctly to the blessing that he had received. He knew he was to present the tithe to Melchizedek. So, when Melchizedek was done blessing Abram, he Abram gathered the tithes of all the spoils and gave it to him. This is the covenant Way to respond to the blessing. Blessed people pay tithes; they show their love and gratitude to the God of covenant by paying their tithes.
Tithing establishes you in the blessing and brings you into unspeakable dimensions of God's favour for increase and unprecedented multiplication.
Beloved, learn to tithe regularly, and do it in faith. Why? You are blessed and you should walk in the light of that blessing. When you tithe, you respond to the blessing correctly and when you do so, you are walking in the light of it in a covenant way. When you discover the revelation of tithing, and begin to tithe, you will begin to increase supernaturally.
Understand that you don't tithe to be blessed, you tithe because you are blessed; you tithe out of that understanding that you are blessed. it is a way to respond to the blessing, it is the attitude of a blessed man. You don't act otherwise, because you know who you are you are blessed; and so you tithe in honour of God.
When you bring your tithe to God, you are actually giving a witness before heaven, earth and hell, that you are a blessed man. Tithing is a covenant way of presenting the testimony of your blessing; it is also an act of honour unto God. So, give your tithe rejoicing in the Lord. Be cheerful and faithful in tithing. Hallelujah!
