John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father; and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever"
Every believer in Christ must know the Holy Spirit intimately! We are presently in dispensation of the HolySpirit in the plan of God. God made the HolySpirit to Direct the affairs of God on the earth today and made Him our Comforter. When Jesus ascended back to heaven, He promised to send us a comforter and the HolySpirit was sent and so He is the Supreme Representative of Jesus to the Church on earth.
Before The coming of the HolySpirit, Jesus had been the Comforter to the disciples and followers when He was on earth and He had helped, provided for the disciples and answered their questions. The HolySpirit was a gift to them and us to act as Jesus in our lives. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit was sent to come and take Jesus' place, and He is exactly like Jesus to us today. He speaks to us and tells us what God wants us to know.
Acts 6:4:
"But we will continue steadfastly in prayer and in the ministry of the word.”
As christians, we should make the Spirit of God is our advantage in our lives and He brings us into fellowship with the Father and the Son.
1 John 1:3:
"that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ."
From the Passage above, it tells us that our fellowship is with Jesus Christ as the HolySpirit was sent to comfort us. The HolySpirit reveals Spiritual realities and divine secrets through us by the Spirit of God. The HolySpirit is know as the Revealer.
All these benefits is as a result of the death of Jesus. The death of Jesus was revealed and manifested to us by the Spirit of God. To grow in Spirit, Christians must start to cultivate fellowship with the HolySpirit through meditation and prayer and we would experience the presence of HolySpirit.
The HolySpirit is the Spirit of truth and reality and when we begin to draw closer to Him by developing and cultivating fellowship with Him through prayer and meditation in the Word of God, we find our fellowship with God easy and effective.We should take our place in the Word, and let the Spirit take His place in our life.
We should be filled with the HolySpirit as commanded in Ephesians 5:18.
