”After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and
settling on him.’’
Matthew 3:16 (New Living Translation)
The dove symbolising the person of the Holy Spirit settled on Jesus. I find this significant for many reasons, one being that the dove of the Holy Spirit settled and did not fly away. It is so easy to take the things of the Spirit for granted and term them inconsequential or non-essentials, because we place more confidence in things we can understand by our physical senses. Sometimes we get carried away by our earthly qualifications and accolades that we trust in them over God’s Word. Unknown to many, the spiritual realm is the mother of the other realms we know of. There is a higher realm. Apostle Paul, speaking to the Corinthian Church:
so we fix eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18)
It is funny and sad to watch people scurry around man-made principles for solution to problems and challenges without realizing that these very principles have become stale. There are some principles that the devil stole from heaven, and perverted and handed over to men. These principles are still being used by such men who have placed their sole confidence in them. There is a better alternative which is
For whoever finds me finds life and receives favour from the Lord. Proverbs8:35
I would at this point urge you my dear reader, never to underestimate the value of God’s presence in your life. Do not venture out without His guidance. Don’t operate from principles, but from intimacy from His presence. If you look through the years, you would undoubtedly notice some setbacks and failures which you have experienced in your life, and which were the consequences of some bad decision making. What would have happened if you had gotten a clear revelation from God?
God is always right and always wise. He knows what is best for His children. But we must actively seek Him in all that we do so that we have good success (Joshua 1:8).
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
“HOW CAN WE WALK IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THE SPIRIT WOULD NOT FLY AWAY FROM OUR LIVES (AS THE DOVE DIDN’T LEAVE JESUS)?’’
