Jaro's Fiesta of Candelaria it been sais "Rooted in Religiosity and Rich Tradition.
Annual Jaro Fiesta Iloilo city Philippines celebrates the fiest of Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria , every 2nd of Febuary.
All roads lead to Jaro every 2nd of February as Ilonggos flock the historic district to commemorate and honor the Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria (Our lady of candles .A religious activity attracts local and foriegn guests who wish to witness this event being shared by all Roman Catholic Ilonggos.
Mass started at 4am and well into the night. A sea of devotess amassed right in front of the church and the light the candles.

People are lining up to say prayers and light thier candles .The blessed candles , the quintenssential symbol of the fiesta the believe it provides protection to the faithful specially in times of disasters.

One of the highlights of the Jaro fiesta is the procession which are participated by
the students , faithful, fieste queen and princesses and the clergy .
Jaro fiesta is not just one day event, celebrations started two months ago with the opening of the Jaro Agri-Industrial fair and the Whole Jaro Plaza was converted into a tiangge where you can buy anything from potted plants and orchids, marbles from Romblon and many others. You can also bets a typical Pinoy-style Peryahan and enjoy some rides installed inside.
Another tradition being associated with Jaro fiesta is the Fiipino tradition of "Cock Fighting ,Humdred of thousands of pesos are places on bets on the games and this not just ordinary.Rich and Hacienderos from Negros attended the yearly event , Sabong (cock fighting) which is dubbed as ,"I Cock International Derby at Iloilo Coliseum.
