On one occasion a rich young man appeared before Jesus and asked him: "Then one came and said to him: Good teacher, what good shall I do to have eternal life?" Matthew 19:16 (Reina-Valera 1960). Our Lord Jesus answered by quoting the commandments that he had to keep, however this young man was a practitioner of those commandments and for that reason I answered him: "The young man said to him: All this I have kept since my youth. What more do I lack? "Matthew 19:20 (Reina-Valera 1960). It was there where our Lord Jesus understood that it was a young man who had the intention to please God, but there was something in him that did not allow totality to be that man that he thought or wanted to be, that's why our Lord tells him : "Jesus said to him: If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me. "Matthew 19:21 (Reina-Valera 1960).
When the young man heard the Master's words, he became sad, the Bible tells him this way: "When the young man heard this word, he went away sad, because he had many possessions." Matthew 19:22 (Reina-Valera 1960).
Like the young man in the biblical story many of us have decided to please God in everything and sometimes we have considered that we are achieving it, but many times there are things that without realizing we have not given to the Lord.
If this day you will ask the Lord: "What do I lack to please you?" And He would answer you pointing out some area of your life, Would you be able to stop doing that? Would you be able to give God that area? Would you be able to renounce that friendship or relationship? Would you be able to get rid of that idol you have built? Would you be able to make that difficult but necessary decision?
We are not going to deny that we all have areas of our life that we very well know we have to improve. The vast majority of us know that it is what is causing us stumbles or feel unworthy before God, but often we do nothing to solve that problem, we do nothing to leave that bad habit, we do nothing to say NO to that sin and we continue to live with that in our life.
Be honest with yourself, examine this day your life, your heart, your thoughts and detect what until this day you have not given to the Lord and with all humility recognize your failure and surrender into the hands of the Lord that has been affecting you so much .
It is not time to continue living with those stones in your shoes that prevent you from walking correctly. It's time to stop, detect it, take it out and start walking as God deserves us to walk.
The key to being pleasing to God is in the sufficient humility we have to recognize that we have a problem or an area that we have not given to the Lord. From the moment we recognize that we have a problem, the Holy Spirit of God begins to work in our lives giving us the ability to get ahead and solve it, giving us the courage we need to make the decisions that need to be made.
