As a sort of experiment to see what is possible in our region for reaching people with the Gospel, we threw every resource we had in planning towards 1 month of outreach most every day of the week.
We spent all of the ministry money and all of our personal money in purchasing bibles, gasoline for our transportation and food for our team of 8. We also purchased food and gifts for the very poor in the mountain regions. People who don’t have a knife or a fork, spoon or a bowl.
Our goal was to reach 2000 families with the average of 6 people per family with the Good News of Jesus Christ. This number would equal 2000 souls for Christ.
We partnered with two local pastors who know the area and have the proper connections to help us make our aggressive schedule. We were ministering almost every day of the week and several locations per day. Besides the pastors, my wife and our team organized food and kitchen items, plates, knives and forks. Also in each Baranggay we gave the pooresest families in each 25 kilos of rice.
When we first moved to the Philippines I heard a statistic, that just in our region of Misamis Occidental, there are 70,000 families without one bible per household. Immediately I asked the Lord for 70,000 bibles. So far, to God be all. Glory, honor and praise, we have given away 7800 bibles. Over 10% of the way to 70,000.
I even built a storage place for bibles, in faith that God will answer this prayer. A full New and Old Testament Bible, in the Cebuano language, costs about $6 US. Now and then, thorough the Bible society we can get them for $1.50. Even at $1 that is $70,000.
We are not funded by a large missions organization. In fact the people I know that run such organizations say it is too risky for us to be here because of the many militant groups in our area. Our funds have come directly out of our own pocket, literally selling all and giving to the poor and following Jesus. Our funds come from small churches, families that have a heart for the lost. Some from Steemit that send us SBD or support in other forms.
We actually have never been fully supported and we are still believing for that day. When I speak of support, I am speaking of ministry. Our personal care has not so far come out of the ministry budget.
This month I am speaking of was a test to see what would be possible when fully funded. I do believe that day will come.
I apologize for the quality of some of the photos, but the lighting in some places are minimal.
During this time we had many opportunities to baptism the new believers. Many times we left that for the local pastors to do.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
I have hundreds of other photos, but here is just a sampling.
Lately we have concentrated our efforts on the future of the Philippines....The Children!
This experiment actually produced a frustration as now we know what we could do. We are involved every week with fruitful ministry.
This one month we gave away 2200 bibles to families that had none. We declared the Gospel to around 10-12,000 people. By God’s grace we were able to ease the pain and hunger of many. Many were healed of sickness and diseases. The captive were set free.
These are my thoughts this morning from the Philippines.
Thank you so much for your time and reading.
Please pray for us!
God bless!
