We all can remember the account of Jesus walking on a stormy sea. He called out to Peter who was in a boat. Though scared he entered into the sea and walked towards Jesus. At a point he began to sink, now there is something I want you all to take note of. Peter was a fisherman by occupation, which invariably means that he's a good swimmer. When he was sinking, he didn't use his natural instincts that is swimming back to the boat for safety, rather he focused on Jesus Christ, called out for help and readily accepted help from Jesus Christ.
Now, how does this account apply to us Christians. When we notice that the faith we have in our God is weakening due to circumstances surrounding us, we should immediately imitate apostle Peter by Looking Intently At The Cheif Agent And Perfector Of Our Faith, Jesus Christ.
Please let see what Hebrew 12: 2,3 tells us;
As we look intently at the Cheif agent and perfector of our faith, Jesus. For the joy that was set before him, he endured a torture stake, despising shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Indeed, consider closely the one who has endured such hostile speech from sinners against their own interests, so that you may not get tired and give up.
While he was here on earth, Jesus Christ laid down some steps for us to take based on the model he has set.
I would quickly consider two.
Jesus Christ Strengthed His Confidence In The Bible.
When Jesus was on earth, he was thoroughly and fully convinced that the BIBLE provides the best source of guidance in life. This simply tells us that we need to read, study and meditate daily on the Bible. Take out time to investigate Bible prophecies and see how they were all fulfilled. It will definitely strengthen your trust in Bible prophecy thereby strengthen your faith in God.
Jesus Christ Focused On The Blessings God Promised Him.
Jesus Christ was to die a painful agonizing death on earth, but yet they was something he always did. Hebrew 12:2 tells,
He fixed his sight on the joy that was set before him.
He didn't allow the threats of men get to him. He was never distracted by what the world had to offer. He was even offered the glory of the world, but still he was focused. This is because, he knew the blessings that await him if he accomplishes God's will.
Now, how can we imitate this outstanding example.
We can do this by meditating on the wonderful blessings our God has promised us in his Word the Bible.
He has promised to remove this wicked system of things. No more sickness, pain and death. In time, we would not only see our dead loved ones again, rather we would hold them.
I want you all to use your mind eyes to visualize this wonderful blessings coming into reality. Surely, your faith would be strengthened.
Finally, my good audience, when we focus intently at the examples Jesus Christ has set for us, definitely our faith in our God would be strengthened.
