U-19 cricket participated in the World Cup. Tamim Iqbal plays first-class cricket for the Chittagong Divisional team in the Premier League. He is the brother of Test cricketer Nafis Iqbal and popular cricket star of Bangladesh
Akram Khan's nephew. According to March 2015, he is the second Bangladeshi cricketer to score 4,000 runs in one-day internationals.
After Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal scored two centuries in Test cricket as the second cricketer of Bangladesh. He also has the second highest 206 runs in an innings in Test cricket history of Bangladesh. Besides, he scored 100 runs in Twenty20 cricket as the first Bangladeshi cricketer against Oman in the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 and became the first Bangladeshi to score 1000 runs in Twenty International. Tamim joined Pune Warriors Cricket team in the IPL in March 2012.
In the July-August 2009 season Tamim Iqbal made his Test debut for Bangladesh in the West Indies tour. The Caribbean team was a little weak because of the dispute between the players and the cricket board. Test debut of 7 players in this match. Tamim's batting gave Bangladesh a historic victory. This was Bangladesh's first Test victory against the West Indies and the first Test win in the outside of the country.
Tamim finished his innings with 128 runs, and due to his extraordinary performances,
Man of the match won the match. Earlier, he scored 33 in the first innings. Talking about his innings, Tamim said, "The wicket was flat enough, if you can concentrate properly on the game and play straight on the bat, you can definitely score big. I am now twenty years old and have played just 11 Tests, hopefully many more innings I can give the team a gift.

On 25 January, Tamim and Junaid Siddiqui made a record partnership of 151 against India. On 13 March, 2010, Tamim touched the milestone of 1000 runs in an innings of 86 runs in the first Test of the series against England. Only Sachin Tendulkar and Mohammad Ashraful were able to touch the milestone even at a younger age. Tamim made two consecutive centuries (103 and 108) in the second innings of the Test and in the first innings of the next Test.
In the Asia Cup in 2012, Tamim Iqbal scored a half-century in 4 matches and Bangladesh finished in the final of a tri-national cricket series of 2 times.

Tamim Iqbal is the highest run scorer for Bangladesh against touring India team on June 10-14, 2015. He wrote this Kirtigatha in the first innings of the only rain-fed Test in the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
Cricket World Cup
He took part in the 2007 Cricket World Cup and scored 51 off 53 balls in the first match against India, which contributed to the defeat of the Indian team.

Tamim Iqbal made his century as the first Bangladeshi against Oman in the T20 World Cup on 13 March 2016. He reached the first one thousand clubs for Bangladeshi.
