The latest version of FakeApp Ver 2.2 allows one to create photorealistic faceswap videos with deep learning algorithms. The app uses an artificial intelligence (AI) based human image synthesis technique to create a Deepfake - a word formed from "Deep Learning" and "fake".
Unfortunately, apps like FakeApp, can be used for nefarious purposes - from somewhat benign prank videos to fake porn videos, fake news and malicious hoaxes. Despite this, the technology is real and hopefully better use cases can be discovered for this AI based Deep Learning technology.
