YOUR SONGS ON YOUR WRIST!
Garmin just announced a riff on its Vivoactive 3 wearable that adds a music player and local storage to the combination fitness tracker and GPS smartwatch.
The Vivoactive 3 was first announced in August as a direct competitor to the fitness tracking smartwatches sold by Apple, Fitbit, and Samsung.
The Vivoactive 3 Music has all the features found on the original, including Garmin Pay contactless payments, a touchscreen with swipeable bezel, heart-rate sensors, stress and VO2 max fitness level calculations, a bevy of built-in activity trackers, phone notifications, and support for third-party watch faces and apps like SmartThings and Uber. Only now it can store up to 500 songs that you can listen to on headphones paired over Bluetooth — no phone required.
At launch, Garmin lets you download offline music playlists from iHeartRadio, with Deezer said to be coming soon. Unfortunately, more popular streaming music services from Spotify, Amazon, Google, and Apple aren’t supported. But if it’s any consolation, you can always transfer music directly to the smartwatch from your computer.
