Snort is an open source application that is used as an intrusion detection and prevention system. The way it works is by detecting and analyzing network traffic passing through the network in more detail, different from the firewall in general.
Snort is an open source intrusion prevention system capable of real-time traffic analysis and packet logging.
The workings of the detection and prevention system itself will try to prevent suspicious traffic sources and put them in the Snort database.
If you work and become an admin on an internet network, Snort is a mandatory tool that you must install and configure.
