Earlier this year, Medium fired a third of its employees and promised to focus on finding a more sustainable business model. It quickly launched a paid subscription service that allows customers to access exclusive articles for $5 a month. Previously, Medium divided the personal subscription fee in all the exclusive articles that were read that month. Now, there are more clap articles that will get a bigger share of the pie.
