MANTIS is a multi-leg robot with six extremities. This system was developed as a platform for interdisciplinary research in the field of mobile manipulation with many legged robots. To fulfill a variety of different tasks robots are able to operate in two different postures. In the manipulation posture, MANTIS uses four hind legs for movement and two front legs for manipulation. Furthermore, in the driving posture, the robot runs across all six extremities, which is a big advantage in difficult terrain. This flexibility makes it possible to solve complex scenarios with just one system. Some software components and planning methods can be evaluated in this scenario.
