Have you ever imagined how things are for the blind, day in and day out? I guess we do not need to play blind to be able to imagine the challenges of being one. Lucky and blessed are those blind who have relatives or personal aides who take care of them all throughout. But how about those who do not have anyone? Either way, lack of vision is a challenge to both the blind and their aides. That is where this device from Toyota comes in - BLAID.

I haven't found the meaning of BLAID but I thought it is "Blind's aid." It is a device worn around the shoulders of the blind and is equipped with cameras that detect the user's surrounding. It scans the surrounding and communicates to the blind through speaker and vibration. On the other hand, the user can interact with it through voice recognition or button wherein the user can ask for the device to locate the washroom, elevator, etc.
