Hunter's comment
Keio University researchers, Japan, developed a robotic tail to help aged people retain their balance.
How does it work?
The tail is strapped to the waist. it uses four artificial muscles and compressed air and so when the user moves in a direction, the tail which acts like a pendulum counters it and keeps the balance.
The user is fitted with a tracker which measures gravity and is fed to the tail thus helping create the counterbalance.
