For those that don't know, a Witness on Steem is a user that actually processes the transactions on the blockchain. A transaction is a vote, a comment, a post or an actual transfer of SBD/Steem to another user. It's a really important role.
The top 20 witnesses make a lot of money from running their servers... they can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year... and so it's important that we're only voting for people that are active.
This Dead Witnesses program checks to see if the witnesses you've voted are still active; are they actively posting, producing blocks and voting other Steemians?
Type your name in the first screen and click Review. You'll then see the current state of your witness votes. You can unvote Witnesses from this screen, or go to [Steem Witnesses](https://steemit.com/~witnesses).
