Have you ever wondered why some people can eat all the junk food they want and never gain a pound?
The human race is so special because each one of us is built slightly differently with our own chemistry, look, size, color, structure and everything else inbetween.
Our sexual steroid hormones play the largest role in our body composition and is the answer to the above question. People with higher levels of sex hormones (mainly estrogen for females, and testosterone for men) will automatically be leaner, hold less fat content and tend to have better overall mood, longer lifespan, less illness, stronger bones and more.
The problem with most people, and its not always their own fault, is the food we eat is no longer healthy like it once used to be (I'm talking even carrots for example). The chemical makeup of our food is causing imbalances in our metabolism and then the body must compensate by altering the hormonal structure. If you test the compounds found in vegetables grown today compared to 50 years ago, the nutrient levels are completely different. Changes in raw elemental components in the soil our food grows in, genetic modification, environmental stressors etc can all be to blame for the changes our food has undergone over time.
Every illness or condition we can have as a human is caused either by a deficiency or too much of something. In the case of having a balanced endocrine system and proper levels of hormones, our intake of certain nutrients plays a huge role in whether or not our bodies can make the appropriate amounts of each hormone to maintain their delicate balance. We simply are getting too much of some nutrients, and not enough of others for our bodies to assemble the respective hormones out of the ingredients.
This has caused a huge varience in people who have issues gaining weight especially when they attempt to work out or become more healthy.
The body ends up fighting back due to its lack of hormones and the person ultimately fails to maintain their routine because the results are not happening.
I always tell people who I help with fitness to first figure out if there are hormonal imbalances in their body before attempting to lose weight. There is no way to maintain weight loss if every calorie you eat attaches itself directly to your hips instead of burning it.
Apart from weight loss, hormones play a huge role in bone density, mood and lifespan.
As we age, naturally our hormone levels start to taper off meaning less testosterone and thus more estrogen for men, and less estrogen, more testosterone for women. See, those two hormones much like other balanced chemicals in our body are inversely related. When the body creates less testosterone in men, the body becomes estrogen dominant because the balance is thrown off. Men get mood swings, are more prone to heart disease, illness, they lose muscle mass, and even experince hair loss. In women, when their estrogen levels drop during menopause, the balance again is thrown off and they become more testosterone dominant. Females and males become a closer matching hormonal structure from eachother where all the health problems arise. Aging is accelerated, mood changes, and inevitably, we get closer to death.
The huge worry I see happening now is that people in their 30s are starting to exhibit these same changes at a much earlier age due to these long parasitic imbalances in horomones causing premature aging.
Our goal as humans should be to always maximize our health, horomones and to live a vibrant life. With higher horomone levels comes all the good things for our lives from overall health, strong bones, happy mood, low stress, higher libido, leaner and thinner, less aches and pains.... You name it.
Scientists are currently in the process due to advances in stem cell technology of looking into ways to extract a horomone from the body, de-age it, multiply it and put it back into the same body. The ongoing issue with horomone replacement therapies has always been the way the body sees synthetic horomones and does not react properly to them. They have gone as far as trying to biomatch the horomones to the body to help this problem, but with this new technology, you could have higher levels of your own horomones that your body once made!
It is estimated that by the year 2034, life expectancy will be going back up at nearly the rate of 1 year per year. This means much longer life spans, better genetics and more happy, healthy people.
Horomones are the key to youthfulness, energy and longevity.
I hope this article has been helpful in understanding the body on a deeper level.
Cheers,
