Scientists from the University of Highlands have found a new benefit to walking, affecting the brain more than jogging or cycling.
The site "EurekAlert", that walking helps the flow of blood to the brain, which in turn improves the memory and cognitive ability of man.
Twelve healthy young volunteers, who moved at a fixed speed of one meter per second, were observed in a vertical position, and the blood supply of the brain was monitored by ultrasound.
In the past, Spanish statisticians have pointed out that Swedes, Danes and Finns have the highest level of physical activity.
