Wow! Thanks =) This is a great list of suggestions. I'll start working my way through them :)
I hope more people upvote 's comment, because this effort deserves high payout too!
[Edit] Updates made :) Please see my notes below.
Allowing to set the cover photo to not be the first picture in the blog post.
Yes! We need this!! (Added) :)
See how the photo cover blog photo will be displayed and allow dragging and cropping to fit the window (approximately 1.73 x 1 ratio is what I use, but not everyone is savvy with photo editing).
Great suggestion! Added.
Possibly some kind of project curie for comments. Comments have become less rewarded as of late, likely in part that between a blog post and a comment, a blog post will almost always make more curation rewards.
Good idea. It does fall outside the scope of this list though. It is more of a community effort thing, and not a change to the Steem/Steemit functionality. Maybe talk to the project Curie group and see if it is something they could help with, or at least give you some pointers/tips on how you could go about spearheading a project like that yourself. would be another good person to talk to, as I know in the past he has been known for adding a lot to comments :)
Ability to double upvote or triple upvote content you really like and wish to make more visible
Added, with a slight tweak. See "Golden upvote" :)
Possible separate voting power percentages for both comments and blog posts so that people do not have to choose between which they value more and give a comment voting percentage as well that allows for more upvoting of comments.
Something like this would be a fundamental change to the blockchain/payout. I am very doubtful it will be accepted. I suggest that rather than pushing for a functionality/code change, that this be handled more through a community outreach/effort as discussed above.
140 characters to say why you resteemed a blog post next to where you where the resteemed by text appears.
Another good one! Added :)
mentions in other posts should have the user choose the ability to have it appear as an alert if they wish.
Added
Optional feed with video advertisements that major companies can pay to list (movie previews, new iphone, car etc.) and allow users to enter capchas to make sure the videos were watched. The companies can set how big the reward is to watch their video or offer discounts or coupons for their services.
This is somewhat already covered in the "Opt-in Advertising" section. We'll see if there is any traction on this before adding more to the list. If there is, the community will probably have a larger discussion at that point as to what types of advertising they are willing and wanting to support.
I actually like that their are no profile pictures, so people can remain anonymous and not necessarily be judged by their picture, but the content they make. People that want to make their image visible can certainly do that in their posts, but I like avatars.
Yes. People should have the option of remaining entirely anonymous if they wish. If someone wants to use a profile pic as their avatar they can, but if someone wants to use a different type of image - that is totally fine and encouraged as well :) (I suppose not using an avatar would be OK too.)
Make a users first #introduceyourself post be worth 2x the normal value of a post. Making a good amount in the first post will encourage users to remain with steemit and should pay for itself in the long run. Possibly even 1.5x
This is a somewhat subjective value discussion, and I know there would be some people who would disagree with this. For now, I think we will leave the post payouts to the "free market". If more people want the "introduceyourself" posts to pay higher - let them upvote them more :) There is also https://steemit.chat/channel/projectnewbie, where you can plug good introduceyourself posts - although they do have a "verification" requirement, which you would need to discuss with them in the case of anonymous users.
When you click promote, the option to directly tip a percentage of the promote value to the user. So if you promote $50 you could have a slider to give 10% to the user who created the post. So $5 would be sent directly to the user and $45 burned to promote the content higher.
There is a "Tip Button" in the list above, which I think will suffice for this. I did send you a small (5 SBD) tip by the way, since as you pointed out - your comment here will probably not get the love/attention it deserves ;)
Thanks again for all the great suggestions!!
