I am a fool for thinking that Steemit would ever be worth $300 Billion like Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg I am sure already has Steemit, Synereo, and Yours network on his radar I am sure of it. He has come up a game plan if any of these social media platforms ever become too big to threaten Facebook's existence as a platform.
Just look at this from Google:
Billions of dollars at disposal
Facebook has billions of dollars at their disposal so if any platform like Steemit ever becomes too big to threaten them, they will just start paying rewards to their users I am sure of it.
Mark Zuckerberg has a plan
I would bet my money on it that Zuckerberg has already thought of Steemit or some other site coming in to steal their users, he most likely has a plan A. and a plan B.
His plan A.
Most likely he doesn't want to spend any money destroying the site, he would do it by flooding the site with bots and garbage content and hope that the platform becomes boring and everyone loses interest so the site destroys itself from the inside out, he would only upvote garbage as a whale so everyone becomes annoyed and leaves the site. He would flood the site with whale bots to be super annoying to everyone as well, he wouldn't even have to spend very much money to do this right now he would only have to spend like $5-$10 Million on whale bots.
His plan B.
If I were Mark Zuckerberg my plan B. would be to pay rewards to everyone on Facebook as Facebook tokens that can be redeemed for apps and merchandise online. If that didn't work I would pay real cash to everyone that can be sent directly to Paypal or your bank account. But I am not Mark Zuckerberg so I cannot say for sure.
Solution to Steemit to help fight this
My solution to Steemit is this, we can improve the quality of the site and make it less likely Facebook destroys the site by removing bots. We can close the loophole in the program code so there can be no bot accounts, wouldn't that be great? So every whale would have to manually like a post or an article? To close the second loophole we can have an e-verify system put in place to verify all new accounts, and if Zuckerberg submits his drivers license we deny him access to the site. 
I say we also turn the site inside out and stop becoming a circle jerk and welcome in new users, I have seen most new introduce yourself posts only earning between $.10-$5 bucks tedious. When I joined in July I first made a #introduceyourself post that made over $50 with no photos only text if I would have only made .10 cents on my first introduce yourself post I never would've come back, I would've forgot about the site 10 minutes later and never come back. So stop turning my beloved site into a circle jerk where I have to pay to get votes now, and have to Tweet my posts, and chat just to get votes.......... Do you people really enjoy circle jerking?????
