Autko to zostało pokazane w Lutym 1954 roku na Pokazie Samochodów w Detroit .

Produkcja rozpoczęła się we wrześniu, w październiku można było go kupić za 2944 dolarów.

Zamówienie zostało zrobione na 3500 sztuk i to w ciągu tylko 10 dni.

Początkowy projekt miał wyjść w 10 000 egzemplarzach, ale ostatecznie zrobiono 16.155 sztuk w roku 1955.
