Hey SteemFam!
A few days ago (2nd July), I completed one month of being here on Steemit. Coincidentally, the one month mark fell on my brother's birthday and funny enough, the day I officially joined Steemit was one of my best friend's birthday (2nd June). Being the terrible friend I am, I forgot to wish her... don't worry... she forgave me... lol.
I got introduced to Steemit by . A friend of mine in Canada wanted to buy one of my bottles. I did not know how to work out the logistics of the whole thing so I decided to ask
if he knew what I should do. He then told me about Steemit. I was a bit confused, but my interest was piqued. I decided to ask him more about Steemit and soon found myself signing up.
So here I am... one month later. I am still learning the ropes, but I have made a lot of amazing friends who have helped me improve as a steemer.
In Steemit I have found a community... a family. I have found support like I have never had before. I have found people who see the world as I do, like the things that I like and most importantly... people who don't judge me for who I am or what I do.
I love the level of interaction on here. Steemit has helped me wean off Facebook... lol. I feel more productive here. I know that I am not wasting my time. I know that my thoughts, efforts, work and art are valued and appreciated here. Being here makes me happy.
You are all amazing and I'm happy to be one among you.
I know that I am still very new here, but I would like to share some things that I have learned:
- Quality is very important. No way around it.
- Please don't copy paste. Especially not someone else's work. It's not very nice and people will notice.
- If you are basing your article on someone else's work, please reference the original by pasting a link. Try to add something of your own as a way of adding value. Maybe some insights from personal experiences or your thoughts on the matter?
- Try to learn as much as you can about styling your posts. You get to learn something new and interesting, and your posts get better and better ☺
- Adding visuals (pictures, gifs, videos) to your posts is a good way to attract and retain attention.
- Interact with as many people as you can. Interaction helps you build a network and gain valuable followers and participators.
- Be consistent with your posting.
- Try to post often. It doesn't have to be four posts a day or anything like that. If you can, then that's swell. If you can't, then that's okay too. Just try not to keep too long a gap between your posts.
- Tag your posts correctly so you get the right audience or a wider audience... depending on what you are going for. You can check the Trending Topics to pick the right tag for your posts.
- There are a lot of contests on Steemit. Try to take part so you gain more visibility.
I hope this was helpful ☺
Thanks for reading ☺
